Are you frustrated with the results that you are getting? Would you like to do something about it? What we do in life is determined by how we communicate with ourselves and others. In our model of the world, the quality of our life is determined by how we communicate. What we picture and say to ourselves will determine how we feel. We have within us all the resources necessary to be successful communicators.
We all produce two forms of communication from which the experience of our lives is generated.
- Internal conversations are those things we picture, say and feel within.
- External conversations are our words, tonalities, facial expressions, postures, and physical actions.
For many people, if they are talking with someone they disagree with they will shut them out. They go inside themselves while the other person is talking lookingfor something to come back with. In turn, they are not hearing the message you are sending. Not a good strategy in a personal or business relationship.
Communication is the tool we use to take action. We are the ones who decide how to feel and act based upon the ways we choose to perceive our life. Nothing has any meaning except the meaning we give it. That’s why two people can look at the same situation and have a different interpretation of it.
Have you wondered what your life would look like if you decided the directi0n of it? Do you know that it is possible to create your own future? If you don’t decide, someone else will do it for you.
To decide what YOU want, may be a difficult choice. It is easy to discover what is important to you, and it is more difficult to decide what you WANT out of life. You can decide what you want, or you can get what you get.
- The first step is to recognize where you are.
- Te second step is to clarify your values and write down what you want.
How many changes have you wanted to make only to find yourself doing the same things over and over without producing the results you desire? Looking back over the past five years, how many things have you accomplished that you wanted to do? Do you know how to make those changes in your life? See yourself in the future – five years from now – will you again be regretting the changes you haven’t made?
We all motivate ourselves to do things repeatedly throughout the day. Knowing how this works makes it possible to choose what we’re motivated to do, and to use powerful positive feelings to do it. We need to change the critical internal voices into empowering ones. When we do, they become friendly allies because they produce clear pictures of what we want and a great feeling of motivation to move forward.
Setting goals for yourself…and the company…will result in experiencing more motivation and harmony. While the daily stresses will not be totally eliminated, you will not feel victim of circumstance, actually you will be clear about your future. You will have attained the state call self-control.
