When things are going well it is easy to stay up and be light, especially for people who rely on the external world to make them feel good. Opportunities seem to come to your doorstep. It doesn’t require that much effort to close a sale, find a new job, get a raise, etc. The world looks different when there is a slow down in the economy.
When things slowdown people get fearful, lose their vision and start to listen to negative messages. If you continue to tune into the bad news that people are quick to share, you run the risk of losing your motivation or even worse, getting depressed.
This is the time to really focus on what you can do! Concentrate on your skills and the value that you can add to someone’s life. Someone needs your service. Stay focused on what you have to offer. Challenge yourself to find that inner strength. When you see clearly how you can bring value to people, your motivation increases. You feel confident in yourself. Give yourself pep talk every morning.
Here are some questions to consider:
- What is my outcome?
- What do I do well?
- Who do I know that would need my services?
- How can I get in touch with those people?
I am convinced that if you ask yourself these questions, you will feel better and your attitude will change because you are directing your mind on a new path of success. When your motivation is high, your presentation projects an energy that is contagious. People are happy to do business with you because when you are in their presence, they feel better. Who doesn’t want that?
